Punta Cana Resorts
Since we first visited Punta cana the number of resorts has doubled. Today there are over 60 Punta Cana resorts and
the number tends to increase. Punta Cana is now one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Most of
Punta cana hotels are all inclusive but you can always find the options you are looking for there.
It’s been a long time since our first visit to Punta Cana, about 15 years. Back then we liked going to adults-only
resorts. Today we always travel with our kids. Victori and Jacob are in love with Punta Cana (one of the best
beaches in the world) and there is no way they’d like to miss a trip there. Punta Cana has become our family’s
favourite holiday destination, so our adults-only resorts reviews date back to when Victoria and I looked for
romantic getaways in Punta Cana (about a year ago).
We will try to give you a general picture of all Punta Cana in this page
so you knew what to expect when you get there. We hope we will help you decide what the best hotels to be considered
when planning your trip to Punta Cana are and which you shouldn’t even think about.
We have developed a page for each Punta Cana Resort and we’ve tried to focus on the hotel’s general
features (food, activities, couples, adults only, kid friendly); we give you an overview of the dining and activity
details; we also share with you our opinions about pros and cons of the Punta Cana all inclusives; and our tips for
making the best of the resort.
Punta Cana resort rankings
All Dominican hotel star ratings are based on criteria such as comfort, food, cleanliness, atmosphere, activities,
grounds & location. They are decided almost wholly by the resorts themselves and the Dominican Tourist Board.
One thing to keep in mind is that these Dominican hotel rankings are compared only to other Dominican hotels; they
are not compared to hotels internationally. Don’t think that a 4 star rating in New York is comparable to a 4
star rating in Punta Cana – they’re not.
However, we have found that they tend to be a little nicer than other hotels in the Caribbean with equivalent
rankings. As a general rule: 4 star resorts are very comfortable, offer a good range of activities and have decent
dining options. Five star Punta Cana resorts will charge you a little more, but pamper you a little bit extra in
each of the categories listed above. Three star resorts tend to be a little older and have a somewhat decreased
comfort level, but if that doesn’t bother you – you’ll save a bundle and the ocean is the same!
If you think we’ve slipped up on some information (resorts do change their ways quite frequently) or something
that you found particularly useful please let us know by visiting our Contact Us page. We try our best to keep this
site’s info current and accurate; we appreciate your help in doing so!
Punta Cana Resorts listings
Here is a list of the main resorts in Punta Cana, but these are not the only resorts we suggest. We have
visited most of the hotels in Punta Cana and you’ll be seeing our reviews of those. As for the ones we haven’t
been to yet, our cousin Michael who owns a travel business in Punta Cana will be writing the reviews. Michael has
visited every one of the hotels in Punta Cana with his family and he can provide very detailed and fair
assessments.
These reviews are completely subjective, they are a reflection of what our stay was like at each of the resorts -
what we enjoyed and didn't enjoy. We are not trying to sell you on any of them in particular, only letting you know
how good of a time we had.
Click on the link of the Punta Cana hotel you’re interested in to see more information about the resort. We are
listing the hotels in order of location from North to South instead of alphabetically - at least you'll know where
your hotel is.
